Out of the Mouths of Babes

You know, the faith of a child is really something.

Recently, we were coming out of our church service and my almost two-year-old was with her dad, pointing out the birds flying overhead. Probably thinking to use this as a teaching moment, Dad said, "Who made the birds?" Without hesitating, our daughter readily responded, "God made birds."

This weekend, we moved that same daughter to a "big bed" for the first time. When it came time for bedtime prayers, instead of laying her head on my shoulder for Dad to pray, she just started praying. "Dear Jesus, thank you for day, thank you for our house, thank you for my big bed. Jesus name. Amen."

Since then, she has several times prayed on her own for whatever her little mind and heart was thankful for or concerned about. For example, one day after brushing them, she thanked Jesus for her teeth. Oh, that we would all have faith like a child.
